The detour tunnel worked, and a clear stream now flowed safely past Mole Town. “This could be our new water source!” Mayor Mabel said. Moles filled little cups and smiled at the fresh, splashy sound.
Soon, the stream became the Dish-Washing Spot. Milo and Max scrubbed bowls while the water swished by like a friendly helper. Everyone took turns and used gentle splashes.
One day, Milo tiptoed close and said, “Maybe I could take a tiny bath.” He dipped a paw in—brrr!—and giggled. Then he noticed the water rippling in a strange, bumpy way.
Something peeked out of the water: a pale, slippery creature with big teeth. Then another appeared… and another! Max gently pulled Milo back, and Mayor Mabel whispered, “Everyone, step away calmly.”
More and more popped up until it looked like there were a hundred toothy visitors! The moles stayed together and watched from a safe distance. “We need a kind, clever plan,” said Mayor Mabel, “because this stream belongs to someone too… to be continued!”
