Above ground, Farmer Fluffy tugged and tugged at a giant melon stuck in the soil. He dug a deep hole, grumbling, "This melon is mine!" His shovel suddenly broke into a hollow space with warm, lanterny light.

Farmer Fluffy peered down and saw a busy underground town. Instead of saying hello, he scooped up chunks of tunnels and rooms with his shovel! Dirt and lanterns tumbled into his dump truck as Mole Town gasped and squeaked.

Milo hugged Max close while Mayor Mabel held her little map tight. "Stay together," Mayor Mabel said, her voice calm and steady. The Mole Town Crowd huddled in a safe pocket of tunnel as the rumbling stopped.

Farmer Fluffy drove the dump truck to his house and tipped Mole Town into a big box to study. Down in the box, Milo noticed a tiny air hole and a loose corner. "If we work as a team, we can dig a new way out," he whispered.

Max started a careful tunnel, and the crowd passed crumbs of dirt like a busy line. Mayor Mabel pointed with her map and said, "We’ll dig toward fresh air and safety." The new tunnel began to form, and Mole Town felt hopeful… to be continued!
