Back in Mole Town, everyone fixed bent signs and swept dusty tunnels. Milo and Max checked every lantern to make sure it glowed bright. “We’re safe,” Mayor Mabel said, “but we should be smart, too.”
Mayor Mabel unfolded her map and pointed to the place where the shovel broke in. “That hole is like an open door,” she explained. The Mole Town Crowd nodded, and everyone began piling soft dirt to close it gently.
Milo didn’t want to be angry forever. “Maybe Farmer Fluffy didn’t know we lived here,” he said quietly. Max squeezed Milo’s paw, and they decided to leave a friendly note near the melon patch above.
That night, Milo and Max climbed a secret tunnel to the edge of the farm. They placed the note under a smooth stone where it would be easy to find. “Please dig gently,” the note said, “and we’ll help your garden grow.”
Back underground, the town listened for sounds from above. Instead of scary scraping, they heard only soft footsteps and a surprised, quiet “Oh!” Mayor Mabel smiled, “Tomorrow, we’ll see what happens next… to be continued!”
