The little plug suddenly broke free with a loud splash. The leak wasn’t tiny anymore—it became a giant rush of water! “Back to Mole Town, now!” called Mayor Mabel.
Milo and Max ran as fast as their short paws could go. Behind them, water chased through the tunnel like a shiny river. The Mole Town Crowd hurried together, helping anyone who slipped on the muddy ground.
They reached the older village tunnels and slammed the wooden gate closed. But the ground trembled, and everyone heard the rushing water getting closer. “We only have a little time,” whispered Max.
Mayor Mabel opened her map and pointed to a wide hallway. “We’ll build a giant wall right here,” she said. Moles stacked rocks, packed dirt, and pressed clay tight, while Milo and Max passed materials in a fast line.
Just as the last stone slid into place, the water arrived with a loud whoosh. The wall held—at least for now—and everyone sighed with relief. Milo looked at the damp cracks and said, “Next, we need an even smarter plan… to be continued!”
