WindClan cats loved the wind and the open moor. But WindClan had been chased far from home. Now nobody knew where they were.
Fireheart and Graystripe were sent to find them. They walked for days, past fields and roads and stone walls. "Nearly there?" asked Graystripe. "Nearly," said Fireheart. He hoped so.
At last they found WindClan, huddled under a bridge by a noisy river. In front sat their leader, Tallstar, with his very long tail.
"Come home," said Fireheart. Tallstar looked at his clan. They were thin and tired, and the moor was far away. "Some of us are very small," he said.
So they set out together, all of WindClan in one long line. Tallstar walked in front, and Graystripe walked at the very back to pick up anyone who slowed down.
Little Morningkit could not keep up. Her legs were too short and the grass was too tall. She sat down in the middle of the path. "Nearly home?" she asked.
Fireheart picked her up by the scruff and carried her. Then the river was in their way, wide and fast. The WindClan cats did not like water at all.
Graystripe knew a place where flat stones crossed the river. One by one, they hopped over: stone, stone, stone. Nobody got wet except Graystripe, who fell in.
Then they smelled heather. The wind blew in their fur. Tallstar ran up the last hill faster than any old cat should. "Home!"
WindClan ran across their moor in the wind. Tallstar dipped his head to Fireheart and Graystripe. And Morningkit, at last, ran all by herself.
