Pip built a house of straw because it was quick. Pod built a house of sticks because it was easy. Bea built hers of brick, and it took her all week.
A wolf in a thin coat came down the road. "I'll huff, and I'll puff," he said. The straw house went one way and the stick house went the other.
All three pigs squeezed into Bea's brick house and bolted the door. The wolf huffed and puffed until he had no puff left. The bricks did not move.
Bea watched him through the window. He sat down on the step with his coat over his knees. "He hasn't got a house," she said. "That's why he keeps coming back."
So they made a fourth house, and the wolf carried the bricks. He huffed and he puffed all the way up the hill. "Heavier than a straw house," said Pip.
